After two in-person meet-up events, Our CollabArchive volunteers had a chance to meet virtually to learn from Professor John Breslin (University of Galway) about the process of digitally colourising old photographs.
During the talk, Professor Breslin spoke about his project Old Ireland in Colour and how he uses AI technology, Photoshop and extensive research to colourise old photos of Ireland.
There was also an informative discussion about ethics, impact and accuracy and the volunteers also got to see live demos of some of the AI apps, including DeOldify, Palette.fm, and Colorize.ml.
