Music Tales | CollabArchive

About the Project

Delivered in partnership with Northern Ireland Screen, Music Tales uses digitised tapes from the UTV audiovisual archives to enable a group from the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) to explore Northern Ireland’s music history and create short films.

Throughout June, the volunteers are going on a tactile behind-the-scenes of PRONI to learn about how PRONI looks after the UTV archives, digitises old tapes and makes them digitally accessible to the public.

The group is also taking part in filmmaking workshops with Poca Productions to learn interviewing techniques and create videos about their tales and memories of music for the archives.

Following the film project, the volunteers are taking part in a closed captioning project that will help make PRONI’s most popular videos more accessible on Youtube.

Below you will find the outputs produced by the volunteers during this project.
